This prerelease is
provided so that end users can start to play around with it, UI artists and
experts can start to explore the contents.
E.g. on march 2nd,
a release that supports menus was made available, even though the menu
functionality isn’t completed. The menu data format is complete and allows
users to start experimenting with it.
The C++ API will be released in about a month, but may require some form of license agreement.
The user interface has been completely remodeled in the last months. As such, you can expect glitches (e.g. the layer property fails to update when you add more layers – reselecting the object will update). Properties, especially polyline and space (block) reference are incomplete.
The AutoCAD DWG/DXF import/export will filter out unknown entities. It’s likely that the imported will not be the complete DWG file, so saving it back may cause data loss. This will be remedied in two ways:
That said, I’ve loaded one megabyte DWG files that came out perfectly, including XData connections to a database.
The next couple of weeks will focus on fixing minor UI glitches, like property and selection. Read the RSS Feed to keep up with software updates.
